Joanna & Dario

Hello! We are Joanna and Dario!

We haven't met you yet, but we already know a few things about you like: how strong you are, how courageous you are, and how loving you are. We truly admire you. Your strength and courage brought you here and we hope to make you feel welcome and comfortable as you get to know us. No matter what decision you make, we wish you the best along this journey and have the utmost respect for you. Although we will never be able to fully express how grateful we are, thank you for considering us and allowing us the chance to grow our family.

About Us

Dario and I initially met through a dating web-site.

After exchanging several messages, we decided to meet in person for the first time on the Saturday after Thanksgiving more than five years ago. Our meeting place was in front of the TGI Friday’s in Penn Station, New York because Dario lived in New Jersey while I was living in New York at the time. We connected rather quickly and realized that we shared many of the same ideals, beliefs, and morals. For two years, we devoted our time traveling over an hour and a half each way, every weekend, to spend time with one another until we made the decision to move in together. In June 2018, Dario surprised me with an end of the school year summer trip to a cruise to Canada, where he ended up proposing to me as we were making our way across the Atlantic Ocean. It was sincerely a memorable night for the both of us! By late 2018, we got married and purchased our very first home. We look forward to renewing our vows in the near future with our child by our side to unify us all as a family.

Our Home and Family

When we first started dating and were able to meet each other’s families, we quickly realized how similar both of our families were.

We instantly realized how much our family values synced with one another. Our parents instilled the importance of love, honesty, compassion, hard-work, and morals and we will pass this on to our future child. Family time is extremely important to us. Every other weekend, birthdays, and during the holidays, we visit with our extended family. This includes: having dinner together, catching up with each other’s lives and simply enjoying each other’s company. It is always something we look forward to and cannot wait to share these precious moments with our future child. Our parents have played a major role in our lives and have been extremely supportive of us during our adoption journey. They are ecstatic about becoming grandparents one day and want to be part of the child’s life. They have already volunteered to watch our child while we are at work.

Thank You Again

We would like for you to know that we are fully committed to learning about the child's culture, heritage, and language by incorporating them into our daily lives.

We are equally excited to teach him or her about ours (Maltese and Portuguese) as well.  Additionally, we look forward to engaging in current family traditions such as: decorating the Christmas Tree, baking, eating dinner together as a family daily, decorating the interior and exterior of our home to represent the different holidays, and game and movie night. We are also looking forward to starting new family traditions such as pumpkin and apple picking, Elf On The Shelf, and Easter egg hunting to name a few. We promise to always show love, encouragement, and support throughout the child’s life. We also promise to make education and the child’s interests as top priorities. Furthermore, we want the child to always know his/her story and understand that your decision was made out of the purest love. And so we want to thank you very much for taking the time to get to know us and for considering us. We hope our page has given you a small glimpse of who we are and that we have made you feel comfortable and welcome.
